Istria

Istria is at the extreme Western edge of Croatia close to the Italian border. It borders to the Adriatic Sea and enjoys a climate typical of the Mediterranean region. Economic activity centres on tourism, the coastal fringe being well served with holiday accommodation, restaurants and facilities orientated toward the seasonal visitor. Inland the countryside is undulating and attractive with villages poised on rocky outcrops surrounded by wooded slopes. To the north of the peninsula there is a mountainous area which forms one of Croatia's National Parks.
